Consumer: Entertainment Account Executive

We’re looking for a driven Entertainment Account Executive, with a passion for showbiz and TV news, to join our growing Consumer team.

The role

The Role:

Press Box PR is looking for an individual with digital journalist or PR experience spanning across showbiz, TV, Royals and SEO trends. You will be responsible for designing and delivering PBPR’s coverage in these areas, as part of the Consumer team reporting into our Entertainment Lead.

Your primary objective will be to create unique and original stories that your media contacts loved, based on your knowledge of what works best for them as a publisher, while plugging clients into the entertainment news agenda.

You’ll be given regular opportunities to identify and interview talent (celebrities, influencers and experts), as well as generating your own exclusive content ideas using a range or research-led resources to deliver fresh angles on the biggest stories and trending topics.

You will be expected to successfully pitch to your contacts, journalists and editors at major outlets, as well as continually searching for new publications to land coverage in and build relationships with. 

Requirements

  • At least a year’s experience as a showbiz journalist at a mainstream online news publication or in agency as a digital PR 
  • A thorough understanding of how entertainment, the royals and other relevant topics are covered in digital media in the UK and globally
  • A great understanding of the entertainment calendar 
  • A network of relevant journalist and editor contacts and an ability to grow more
  • Ability and creative flair to respond to trending topics to produce stories and research features to secure mainstream media coverage 
  • Ability to react creatively and efficiently to real-time news to generate coverage
  • Strong editorial judgement in entertainment and trending/SEO topics
  • Ability to create engaging and newsworthy copy 
  • A willingness to proactively pitch to media publications

An added bonus

  • Experience securing exclusive opportunities and interviewing talent, including both celebrities and leading experts, to generate original and fresh news lines out of an interview subject
  • Experience working with stakeholders/clients 
  • Commercial/sales experience
  • Educational qualifications within journalism e.g. NCTJ qualified 
  • Understanding how to measure and influence SEO performance
  • Knowledge of using digital PR and SEO tools such as Ahrefs 

Salary, benefits and perks

The important parts:

  • Salary: £28,000-£30,000 DOE
  • Annual bonus scheme paying up to 15%

Press Box PR operates on an office-first hybrid model consisting of three days a week in the office, with another two days at home. The role will also involve occasional travel within the UK and beyond to meet clients and journalists.
