Entertainment lead - consumer

Press Box PR, a fast-growing PR agency, is hiring an entertainment lead to head up and grow this division by designing and delivering media worthy editorial, creative and social media content covering topical and trending showbiz, TV and royal-related news and working with relevant talent.

Press Box PR is a fast-growing PR agency in Barbican, Central London, staffed predominantly by journalists who have made successful moves into PR. Formed in 2020, Press Box PR has grown quickly to become a thriving 45 person agency working for a range of consumer, sport and B2B clients on digital and creative PR projects. 

Reporting into the head of consumer, you will manage a junior team and work closely with the agency’s internal talent and video production arms to create content media love.

Press Box PR is a market leader in the betting and gaming industry and the successful candidate will work principally on behalf of household name brands in the sector, whilst also taking advantage of opportunities to work disruptively for challenger brands. The successful candidate will at times also collaborate with the consumer team’s wider finance, lifestyle and news teams on a wider range of clients and projects, so a well-rounded media knowledge is a huge advantage.

You will have a keen eye for detail, your finger on the pulse when it comes to topical and trending showbiz/TV and Royal related news, a great knowledge of the entertainment calendar and the ability to produce engaging and newsworthy content both collaboratively and independently that appeals widely across digital publications.

You'll have a flair for creatively tackling entertainment-focused news in both a reactive and evergreen manner, as well as securing exclusive opportunities with media-worthy celebrity talent and commentators.

You will have an extensive book of contacts made up of journalists, editors and agents across leading showbiz and Royal desks and a willingness to build relationships with media globally. 

As part of this role you will be a key figure in the senior leadership team of the consumer division and work towards commercially-driven targets.

Whilst no experience in a commercial setting is needed, you will be motivated by the opportunity to drive revenue growth by creating and pitching SEO-driven projects and creative brand activations to new and existing clients, requiring excellent stakeholder management and relationship building skills. 

You are: 

  • A PR/marketing professional with over 4 years of experience working on digital PR campaigns with a flair for entertainment 
  • Or an entertainment editor at a leading publication, with strong experience in the entertainment sector with a desire to move into the PR industry 

Essential Requirements: 

  • A thorough understanding of digital PR, SEO and digital media 
  • A thorough understanding of how entertainment, the royals and other relevant topics are covered in digital media in the UK and globally and content that drives traffic for publishers 
  • A creative expert and someone who loves pitching media
  • A self starter who can work well in terms of coming up with angles, creating content and pitching
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, to publication standard
  • A willingness to proactively pitch media publications
  • Creativity and an ability to come up with a range of media-worthy ideas
  • Experience managing and developing junior colleagues

Even better:

  • Direct experience with gaming clients in link building and creative campaigns or other commercial/marketing activity 
  • Understanding how to measure and influence SEO performance
  • Knowledge of using digital PR and SEO tools such as Ahrefs and Buzzstream
  • Stakeholder management experience including working with clients, pitching and in new business scenarios
  • Experience working towards commercial targets

Salary, Benefits and Perks:

  • Salary: £45,000-£55,000 DOE

Press Box PR operates on an office-first hybrid model consisting of three days a week in the office, with another two days at home. The role will also involve occasional travel within the UK and beyond to meet clients and journalists.
