Head of branded content

Intro

Press Box PR, a fast-growing PR agency, is hiring a head of branded content to head up and lead an exciting new project and growth area within the business, creating, selling and executing multi-channel PR, social media and content marketing projects in the sport, entertainment and popular culture spaces on behalf of brands. 

Reporting into the managing director and founder, you will work with senior stakeholders in the business to accelerate the agency’s revenue growth in this category by building on a successful foundation laid to date. 

Your work will be for both our existing client roster as well as new pitches, with the successful candidate responsible for developing and selling the creative and commercial proposition then delivering from end to end.

Who are PBPR?

Press Box PR is a fast-growing PR agency in Barbican, central London, staffed predominantly by journalists who have made successful moves into PR. Formed in 2020, Press Box PR has grown quickly to become a thriving 45 person agency working for a range of consumer, sport and B2B clients on digital and creative PR projects.

The role

You will be an expert project manager who understands how to collaborate with and deliver for multiple stakeholders including clients, talent, media partners, producers and internal teams.

You will be comfortable with ultimate accountability in terms of design, sales and execution of major projects, delivering revenues and managing budgets and suppliers effectively. 

You will have a creative flair and knowledge of how to shape campaigns and content that perform on multiple social media channels including via paid promotion.  Experience working with media partners and other paid collaborators to drive commercial outcomes is also a plus point. 

As part of this role you will be a key figure in the senior leadership team of the business and work towards commercially-driven targets. Current and previous experience of projects in this space is essential, as well as a willingness to attend major sporting events both in the UK and worldwide. 

Candidates who have delivered campaigns with brands at major social media publishers and in relevant agencies are of particular interest. The role may also suit an ambitious senior PR agency candidate who has experience working on campaigns encompassing additional channels beyond earned media. 

Requirements

  • At least a year’s experience as a showbiz journalist at a mainstream online news publication or in agency as a digital PR 
  • A thorough understanding of how entertainment, the royals and other relevant topics are covered in digital media in the UK and globally
  • A great understanding of the entertainment calendar 
  • A network of relevant journalist and editor contacts and an ability to grow more
  • Ability and creative flair to respond to trending topics to produce stories and research features to secure mainstream media coverage 
  • Ability to react creatively and efficiently to real-time news to generate coverage
  • Strong editorial judgement in entertainment and trending/SEO topics
  • Ability to create engaging and newsworthy copy 
  • A willingness to proactively pitch to media publications

  • Direct contacts with relevant commercial decision makers at brands
  • Experience of performance marketing, acquisition and affiliate marketing campaigns
  • Knowledge of digital PR
  • Production experience on the ground at major events
  • Direct contacts with media owners, talent and influencers

Salary, benefits and perks

  • £55,000-£70,000 DOE

Press Box PR operates an office-first hybrid model based on an average of three days a week in our Barbican office.

The successful candidate will work at a range of shoot, client and stakeholder locations around the UK and beyond, with some work during evenings and weekends as dictated by time zones and major event schedules.
